Window Stopping on Michigan Avenue

There's a new Christmas window "must-see" downtown this year! It's at...172 N. Michigan Avenue, and the surprised passers-by are halting in their tracks to get a second look.

The 27-inch tall Nativity figures are the work of Joseph's Studio. The full set (11 figures plus the stable) pretty much fills our front window. As the crowds pass by this evening to go to the "Festival of Lights" just north of us, how many families will pause here (like some we've already seen), with the parents going to their knees to retell the story of the First Christmas to children whose hands are folded in spontaneous prayer? How many jaded Christmas shoppers will take a second look, and remember why they're celebrating the season--or even cross themselves in remembrance?
We'll let you know!

Even though many people have begun their Christmas shopping already, don't forget our Advent Women's Retreat with Sr. Kathryn Hermes in just two weeks: Dec. 4 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m) at St. Peter's in the Loop (110 W. Madison St, downtown).  Call now to register ($25). Coffee and donuts included, but bring your own lunch (or stop in a local restaurant for the lunch break).
Sister Kathryn is head of our electronic publishing division and a sought-after retreat director. In her spare time, she writes best selling spirituality books like "Surviving Depression"; "Making Peace with Yourself" and "Holding on to Hope." The retreat theme is taken from another of her books, "Beginning Contemplative Prayer."

Here's a review of "Holding on to Hope."
